Best resorts to stay at with teens

  • Disney's Contemporary Resort (Deluxe Resort) - close to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, 2 queen beds and a day bed so lots of space in the rooms, nice and modern.

  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge (Deluxe Resort) - very unique hotel experience as there are views of the animals/savannas, great dining, big waterslide, and small enough of a resort that teenagers can explore without ever being too far.

  • Disney's Beach Club Resort/Yacht Club Resort (Deluxe Resort) - great pool with lazy river and great slide, walking distance/boat ride to both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT which is where I find a ton of teenagers want to spend their time!

  • Disney's Pop Century Resort (Value Resort) - easy walk to great food court, fun theming but not "young" Disney, can book connecting rooms so you have lots of space.

Top Tips

TIP #1 - Involve your teens in the planning (make a food item bucket list or a ride bucket list and a plan for getting to them all)

TIP #2 - Plan for your teens interests. Do they like to sleep in? Do they like to chill or go-go-go? Plan accordingly!

TIP #3 - Staying at a Deluxe Resort can get you extra hours in the evening after park close. This is an AMAZING opportunity for teens rather than the early mornings!

TIP #4 - Spring for a bigger room so that everyone is comfortable, has their privacy and is sleeping well!

TIP #5 - Divide and Conquer if you are travelling with younger siblings or family members. Everyone stays engaged and entertained and you can build in “regroup” times for meals etc.

TIP #6 - Give them some freedom in the parks. The parks are a great, safe, confined area to give your teens some independent time. Se t a meeting place and give them an hour or two to explore on their own. Of course, you know if this will work for your kids or not.

TIP #7 - Let them be kids. They may surprise you in their search for a nostalgic, magical feeling. Let them ride Small World a second time or stand in line to meet Mickey. That’s what it’s all about!

Best Non-Park/Ride Experiences

  • Disney Springs Shopping

  • Surfing Lessons and a day at Typhoon Lagoon

  • Thrill seekers head to Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach
